Traveling to Boracay in the New Normal: A Guide (As of December 1, 2021)

Time to start preparing for your much awaited vacay to the fabulous island of Boracay! For a safe and hassle-free trip, follow these simple guidelines:

1. Make a hotel reservation.

Astoria Current is accredited by the Department of Tourism (DOT). You can book your room through this website. Just add your check-in details in the header above and click ``Book now.`` You can also send our Sales Team a message via rsvn@astoriacurrent.com or +63 998-968-1265.

2. Book your plane tickets or prepare your travel details.

For local travelers who will be booking a flight, your point of entry should be Caticlan Airport or Godofredo P. Ramos Airport only. For guests coming from Western Visayas and Aklan, if you are using a private vehicle, please prepare a photo of your car’s plate. If you are taking public transportation, accomplish the Certificate of Undertaking for Travel Details template via aklan.gov.ph under Tourism.

3. Apply for a vaccination certificate or get tested.

In line with the Executive Order No. 028 Series of 2021, fully vaccinated guests, including minors 12 to 17 years old, will be allowed to enter Boracay by presenting one of the following proofs of vaccination starting November 16, 2021:

(a) VaxCertPH COVID-19 vaccination certificate with full vaccination status from vaxcert.doh.gov.ph;
(b) Locally-issued vaccination card/ID with full vaccination status and verifiable QR code; or
(c) Locally-issued vaccination card/ID with full vaccination status and certificate of vaccination from issuing vaccination center with contact details; or
(d) Vaccination card/ID/certificate issued abroad

In the absence of these documents, a negative saliva-based, oropharyngeal, or nasopharyngeal swab RT-PCR test taken within 72 hours from the date of extraction to the date of travel will be required. It must only be administered by laboratories accredited by the Department of Health (DOH). Have your initial hotel booking confirmation ready should you need it. Once your RT-PCR negative results are out, send a copy to Astoria Current for your final booking confirmation.

On the contrary, minors below 12 years of age will no longer need to submit a negative RT-PCR test result before being issued a QR code. Their guardians will only need to accomplish the Certificate of Undertaking Travelling with Minors template via aklan.gov.ph under Tourism.

4. Submit all the requirements.

Go to www.touristboracay.com and choose Boracay as your destination. Accomplish your personal information and attach all the requirements, including proof of identification with Philippine residency or a copy of your passport for foreigners or overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). A confirmation page will display your reference code, your QR code, and download link. Make sure to screenshot or print a copy. You may also opt to download your online health declaration card (OHDC) QR code to your device. Remember to save a copy of it, as well. It will be asked for in the ports of entry/exit and will also be needed when accessing services in the island.

Should you encounter any issues, you may contact Travel Info Aklan Assistance Center via 0939-878-0715, 0975-580-9013, and 0995-850-0585.

Although the QR codes will be autogenerated, submitted documents will still undergo the usual validation process. Should the LGU of Aklan find issues with your attachments, you will be notified through email, SMS, and phone call, and will be given a period within which you will need to comply with their instructions. Otherwise, your OHDC QR Code will be invalidated the day before your travel.

Also, please take note that your QR code has an expiry of twelve hours from your check-out time from the hotel. If you plan to extend your stay in Boracay, send an email with a new booking slip showing your extension to touristboracay@gmail.com before your initial check-out time.
